VALBORG's 'Glorification Of Pain' Due In November
September 15, 2008Vendlus Records will release "Glorification Of Pain", the second album from Germany's atmospheric/death metal/rock band VALBORG, this November in North America.
The Bonn, Germany-based outfit — featuring members of GRUENEWALD, ISLAND, WOBURN HOUSE and CENTAURYS-A — who came into the scene with 2003's "Songs for a Year" (Zeitgeister Music),has returned with its latest opus much wiser and with a tighter craftsmanship. As its ideas and direction may have shifted somewhat over the years, the band still maintains that edgy, atmospheric sound, locked onto its newly shaped rock drive. The live production of "Glorification Of Pain" has helped enhance the band's delivery sufficiently.
While VALBORG's first album was more blast beats and the songs were a little bit more progressive, after six months of writing and working on "Glorification Of Pain", it was obvious that the band was coming into changes musically. The band's new approach was to record everything live in the studio and that allowed them to focus more on the rock side of things — reducing material to basics — and allow everything to be playable.
You can hear the new track "Chains Of Frost" at the band's official MySpace page.
The artwork for the album was created by Peter Boehme, a graphics artist had helped with the graphics for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.
VALBORG will enter the studio this winter to record "Crown Of Sorrow", an album of material that the band says will be "more epic and violent."
